Opting Out of Medicare
Medicare is a giant government ponzi scheme that is going broke and wields it's power over physicians like a club. I will avoid going on a rant here, but those who want more information should check out this link from the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons which illustrates how Medicare is anything but a model of fairness and efficiency. The notion that some lawmakers have that Medicare could provide some type of model for a universal health care system is scary. Also scary is Medicare's "guilty until proven innocent" attitude toward physicians who run afoul of its voluminous and capricious rules and regulations. While it is still voluntary to be a part of such a system, I have chosen to "opt out" and the attached letter is a letter I recently sent my Medicare patients regarding this. I hope that when it is no longer voluntary, and doctors are coerced into the servitude of the state-run health care system, I will be ready to retire.
