Jessica Barker, PA-C
Jessica is a physician assistant (PA) who joined Dr. Mackenzie´s practice in 2005. A physician assistant is a health care professional licensed to practice medicine under the supervision of a doctor. Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of California - Santa Barbara. She completed her Masters in Physician Assistant studies at the University of Iowa Medical School. Jessica has been a practicing PA-C in California since 1999. She initially worked in Neurology in San Diego. She was instrumental in developing and implementing a group-model of care for patients with Headache and Dementia. She had an active involvement in research, serving as a co-investigator on multiple projects. The majority of her research focused on the use of BOTOX® in preventing headaches. Her practice with BOTOX® for headache prevention provoked an interest in its cosmetic uses. Jessica also received a board certification in Anti-Aging Medicine in 2006.
Upon relocating to Santa Barbara, she transitioned to working in Cosmetic Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. Jessica´s education and training allow her to provide a broad range of medical and surgical services to Dr. Mackenzie´s practice. These services include administering BOTOX®, Juvederm and Radiesse injections, performing IPL and laser treatments for hair removal, sun spots and spider veins, providing pre and post operative care and assisting Dr. Mackenzie with surgery.
Heather Grieco, RN
Heather has been a registered nurse for over 10 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. Heather started her nursing career in Pediatric Medicine. She worked in a high level teaching hospital where she quickly gained vast knowledge in the field of pediatrics. During this time, she specialized in the care and management of complex pediatric hematology oncology and pediatric emergency and urgent care patients.
After relocating to the Santa Barbara area almost six years ago, she became interested in aesthetic dermatology. She was privileged to learn from the leaders in the field of Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. Heather has extensive training in BOTOX cosmetic, dermal fillers, fractional resurfacing lasers, intense pulse light, laser hair removal and medical grade skin care.
Heather has the privilege to work for Medicis Aesthetics as a Clinical Nurse Trainer. Currently, she is the only Medicis Aesthetic Trainer in Santa Barbara and the Central Coast. As a trainer, Heather teaches physicians and registered nurses proper injection techniques for Dysport, Restylane, and Perlane.
Heather is professionally and personally committed to the art and science of cosmetic rejuvenation. She is passionate about educating clients about their skin and recommending personalized treatments and products. Her goal is to exceed client's expectations at every level.
Sara Joseph, RNP
Sara Joseph is a Registered Nurse Practitioner (RNP) who has specialized in women’s health for over 30 years and in medical aesthetics for 7 years.
Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses with additional advanced education and clinical training and can provide physical exams, diagnose and treat acute and chronic problems, interpret laboratory results and x-rays, prescribe and manage medications and provide health teaching and other supportive counseling.
Sara received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana and trained at UCLA Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program. She has recently been involved in training physicians and nurses in the administration of Botox and dermal fillers.
Sara has also assisted many women and men with a weight loss program using medication as an aid to make significant changes and healthier choices in their lifestyle.
Her passion for assisting people to look and feel their best is what drives Sara to continue learning the most recent technologies and techniques for both facial and body rejuvenation. Her calm demeanor and level of expertise in skin care, laser treatments, dermal fillers and other injectables allows the patient to feel comfortable and confident, well cared for and happy with their treatment.
Sara lives in Santa Barbara, CA and is married to a retired OB/GYN physician. She has two grown sons and is the proud mother of a Rhodes Scholar.
Sara Chavez, LE
Sara is a Licensed Esthetician and has been working as a medical esthetician for eight years. A native of Santa Barbara, she has been in the skin care industry for ten years. After attending Joe Blasco MakeUp Artistry school in Los Angeles she attended Santa Barbara City College Cosmetology Academy and received her license. Sara's specialties include micropeel dermaplaning, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and acne facials.
Lisa Glenny - Aesthetic Coordinator
Lisa is a licensed esthetician with an extensive management background in the laser skin care industry. She is a graduate of UCSB and has enjoyed a broad range of professional endeavors including teaching, real estate sales and development, advertising and marketing. Lisa has been a Santa Barbara native for the past 35 years and brings to Pacific Plastic Surgery a passion for esthetics and a commitment to providing all of our patients with personal attention and care! She will assist you with information and scheduling for the procedure that you choose and can answer most of your questions before and after your consult with Dr. Mackenzie. She is also the one to help you with any questions you have about financing plastic surgery.
